Rome, June 15th, 2023 - Enel X Way and Ferretti Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of strategic solutions and services in the field of sustainable recreational boating in Italy. Innovation and commercial aspects are the pillars of the agreement, which, as a first phase, includes the installation of Enel X Way charging stations at Ferretti Group shipyards, starting with the Riva Shipyards on Lake Iseo. The possibility of offering Ferretti Group customers a bundle package, which includes the Enel X Way charging station along with the electric watercraft, will be evaluated. The synergy between the two partners will also be a way to improve technology to support sustainable boating, which represents a new lever for the growth of tourism increasingly focused on environmental issues.
"With the signing of this new Memorandum of Understanding with Ferretti Group, we create a strong synergy with one of the most important brands in the boating industry globally to promote Made in Italy in sustainable boating," said Lorenzo Rambaldi, Head of Innovability at Enel X Way. "Our leadership in the development of on-road charging stations, in Italy and worldwide, allows us to expand our scope by exploring new sectors with a strong impact, such as sustainable boating, with the aim of creating value for the territory by accelerating the spread of sustainable tourism throughout the country."
"We are very pleased with this partnership with Enel X Way, which will allow us to raise our sustainability standards through the use of the most advanced technologies," said Ing. Matteo Cecada, Chief Technical & Operations Officer of Ferretti Group. "It is a collaboration that perfectly integrates with our future development plans: it is no coincidence that we will start from the historic Riva shipyard in Sarnico, whose essence combines a deep respect for tradition with constant research in terms of innovation."
The start of the partnership with Ferretti Group, the world leader in the design, construction, and sale of luxury motor yachts and pleasure boats, is the latest step in Enel X Way's journey in developing technologies to support sustainable boating, a rapidly expanding sector that is expected to reach a turnover of $16.2 billion by 2030.
Enel X Way is the Enel Group's company entirely dedicated to sustainable mobility. With about 22,500 public charging points managed and over 90,000 private charging devices sold in 2022, Enel X Way operates in 16 countries, directly or through joint ventures like Ewiva in Italy or ChargeWay in India.
